Lesli Robertson
CREATIVE DIRECTOR, Founding Partner
Lesli Robertson is an interdisciplinary artist, textile consultant, and project developer with over 20 years of experience at the intersection of cultural arts and contemporary design. She collaborates with local and international organizations on curated artworks, education, and textile design. Her work has been exhibited across the USA, Scotland, and Kuwait. In addition to co-founding Mekeka Designs, she serves as Senior Advisor to the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.

Pamela Kyagera
OPERATIONS MANAGER, Founding Partner
Pamela Kyagera is an experienced marketing and communications professional, having spent over 20 years supporting artisan communities, customer relations, and strategic partnerships. Her career began with the National Association of Women’s Organizations in Uganda, where she contributed to the Handicrafts Network Project, and later transitioned to managing Afrik Kontemp Art Gallery, promoting Ugandan and East African artists, fostering collaborations, and building community-driven programs.

Josephine Mukasa
Founding Partner, Owner AKA GALLERY
Josephine Mukasa is a seasoned designer, academic, gallery owner, and researcher with decades of expertise. Currently a lecturer at Nkumba University, she combines her role with international research initiatives focused on Ugandan crafts. Formerly a dean at Makerere University’s School of Industrial and Fine Arts, Mukasa has extensive experience in textile design, arts education, and consulting. Her work highlights curriculum development, community projects, and a deep commitment to advancing the crafts sector in Uganda.

Fred Mutebi
Founding Partner, Co-founder BUKOMANSIMBI ORGANIC TREE FARMERS ASSOCIATION
Fred Mutebi, is a distinguished Ugandan artist specializing in painting and printmaking. A Fulbright Scholarship in 2003 inspired him to incorporate indigenous practices, especially barkcloth. His art explores the connections between art, craft, and African identity while addressing political and social issues. Mutebi’s work has been exhibited globally, including at Afriart Gallery in Kampala and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington D.C. He is a co-founder of Bukomansimbi Organic Tree Farmers Association, working to support 9th and 10th generation barkcloth and their local ecosystem.

Grace Kirabo
Founding Partner, Owner TEXTILE REVELATION VENTURES
Grace Kirabo established Textile Revelation Ventures (TEXREV) in 2024, building on 25 years of experience leading the Textile Development Agency. Since 1999, my work with Ugandan weavers has shaped the textile industry by producing high-quality, eco-friendly fabrics using local cotton and indigenous fibers. TEXREV champions sustainable practices, supports local artisans, and empowers entrepreneurs through comprehensive training programs, driving job creation and fostering community development across the region.
